NHS Athens redesign

This week some developments have happened to the  NHS Athens system. Below is a list of the most significant changes

  • There is now an additional login to Athens option on the top-right hand corner of the National Library for Health (NLH) at http://www.library.nhs.uk
  • Once logged in, an NHS Athens users can now find information about their account and change their registered organisation, email address and password by clicking My Account.
  • NHS staff can now automatically self-register for an Athens password on the NLH site from any computer, as long as they sign-up with an NHS email address. Self-registration from a non-NHS pc with a non- NHS email address will take up-to 15 working days.  Please note that the Library will still continue  with it’s current policy of registering NHS staff for Athens on their behalf when they join the library.
  • When NHS staff  self-register for an Athens password or request an email address or organisation change, they will be sent an activation link via email to complete the process.  They have 2 days to respond to an email address activation request and 60 days to respond to other request.
  • Users can now login to My Athens ( http://www.athens.nhs.uk) with their registered email address instead of a username, as long as no other Athens account uses the same NHS email address
  • NHS Athens users will now be automatically emailed 28 days before their Athens account is about to expire and be given a link to a web page where they can renew their account

For more information about these changes contact our NHS Athens adminstrator, Claire Carter on ccarter@sgul.ac.uk.

World class commissioning information

A new online information service designed to support the ongoing development of world class commissioning in the NHS has been launched  by The King’s Fund. The new service will provide a unique resource for health professionals and others with an interest in commissioning – it will showcase all the latest news and guidance on commissioning with the best evidence and examples of good practice and policy.
It will aim to be the first port of call for those involved in commissioning and well-being. The site offers high quality information and timely guides on the various types of commissioning and brings together work on commissioning processes, competencies such as collaborative working or engaging the public, as well as advice on developing knowledge and skills.
