Sunday 31st October

The library will be open from 1-5pm on Sunday 31st October.

 Later opening is because of electrical work taking place.

Friday 22nd October

Advance notice.

On Friday 22nd October the Library will close at 6pm.

This is owing to staff absence.

NHS Healthcare databases

Please note the problem regarding accessing saved searches on the NHS healthcare databases reported earlier in the week has now been resolved.

Network maintenance Sunday 17th October

There will be no access to the SGUL network before 12pm on Sunday because of routine maintenance.

 The library will open at 11am as usual but it will be a reference only service until Midday.

NHS Healthcare databases

Please note that there is a problem with users accessing saved searches on the Health Information Resources site. Users are able to access searches, but it is taking a long time and frequently times out.

The Technical Team are currently trying to resolve this issue and we will let you know when it is fixed.

NHS Evidence is teaming up with the RCN to conduct a survey to understand the information searching needs and behaviours of nurses and health care assistants (HCAs).  The survey explores how you access and use health and social care resources, including any barriers you have experienced.

Dynamed available on trial until end of December 2010

“DynaMed is a clinical reference tool created by physicians for physicians and other health care professionals for use primarily at the ‘point-of-care’. DynaMed is updated daily and monitors the content of over 500 medical journals and systematic evidence review databases directly and indirectly by using many journal review services.” (Dynamed)

Access to Dynamed is available for NHS Athens users on trial until the end of December 2010.  To access this resource log in to MyAthens . Click on local resources and then Ebscohost databases. Select Dynamed from the list.  Alternatively go to the A-Z list of databases and search for Dynamed.  After entering your username and password you will be taken straight through to Dynamed’s homepage.
