Library training courses for NHS staff: new dates for 2013

We have a range of training courses in the Library designed for NHS staff and the dates for the first few months of 2013 are now out. Below are the details of our sessions on EBM, Pubmed, and our NHS Library introduction. In addition to these, we have several courses which are run on a more ad hoc basis, the details of which can be found on our webpages, here. Evidence Based Healthcare Resources
Finding top quality evidence is a priority for health care practitioners. This session will introduce the high quality resources available to you as well as train you how to use the Cochrane Library effectively to support evidence-based clinical practice or decision-making.

Come along to the session to learn more about:
• Evidence based resources, such as NHS Evidence, Clinical Knowledge Summaries
• Cochrane Library

Wednesday 16th January, 10-11.30am
Wednesday 20th February, 3-4.30pm
Tuesday 19th March, 3-4.30pm

PubMed
Learn search techniques to improve the quality of the results you retrieve from searching this popular resource.

At the end of this session you will be able to:
• construct an effective search strategy to retrieve appropriate information
• make best use of the additional features available from PubMed
• locate full text journal articles

Thursday 29th January, 10:30-12pm
Wednesday 27th February, 10:30-12pm
Thursday 21st March, 2-3:30pm

Introduction to St. George’s Library and health information
Learn what the Library can do for you as a member of NHS staff.

The session will include:
• registering with the Library and NHS Athens
• the services available to NHS users
• how to access databases, e-journals and e-books
• searching the Library catalogue
• a tour of the Library
