Accessing Ovid journals on the university network

Some NHS staff are experiencing problems accessing Ovid journals on the university network due to a change in how the library links to university online content via SFX and Shibboleth.

If you are experiencing this problem, log in via Athens to the NHS A-Z E-Journals list to locate your journal, as many Ovid journals are also listed here.  If the Ovid journal you require is not listed on the NHS A-Z, then please email

Library User Satisfaction Survey 2013

How can we improve library and knowledge services for you?

The library is running a satisfaction survey aimed at NHS staff until 5th April so we can monitor the services we offer you and plan for the future.

It would be great if you could take five minutes to complete this brief survey.

We are interested in the views of both those who regularly use us and those who currently do not.

You do not have to provide your contact details but if you do we can follow up on any issues. We can also enter you into a prize draw for a Google Nexus 7 Tablet.

To access the survey online visit

The survey runs until Friday 5th April so please give us your views.

St George's Library blog

We are delighted to inform you that the Library Refurbishment works will start on Monday 16th July with a completion date in mid-October.

Whilst there will be some disruption, the Library will remain open. Only the silent study space at the rear of the Library will be inaccessible during this time.

We will be displaying boards in the Library foyer illustrating the appearance of the new space. We look forward to opening a bright, modern space in October which will provide 200 comfortable silent study seats.

Please ask at the Library Helpdesk if you wish to access any of the print journals.

If you have any questions please email Sue David:
