As part of a free trial from St George’s Library all members of St George’s NHS Trust now have access to DynaMed via EbscoHost.

What is DynaMed?

DynaMed is a medical information database designed to give you evidence-based information at the point of care…

Updated daily DynaMed  gives doctors, clinicians and medical students easy access to nearly 3,200 evidence-based clinical summaries covering:

  • Causes and Risk Factors
  • Complications and Associated Conditions
  • History
  • Physical Symptoms and Characteristics
  • Diagnosis
  • Prognosis
  • Treatment
  • Drug Information
  • Prevention and Screening
  • References (including Reviews and Guidelines)

How do I access DynaMed?

Need more help?

Our Pop Up Library will be at Atkinson Morley Reception on Wednesday 17th April between 12 and 2pm.  Our staff will be able to demonstrate and answer questions on DynaMed and other resources available from St George’s Library.

Alternatively email Karen John-Pierre kjohn@sgul.ac.uk for further information.

BMJ Best Practice

Our London-wide access to BMJ Best Practice (via NHS Athens) is due to finish on 31st March (Easter Day), though access will continue to be available until 30th April while discussions with BMJ Group continue to take place.

To inform next steps and to enable BMJ to get some feedback on our 12 month trial, they have put together a short survey which is available at the following weblink:

” target=”_blank”>https://bmj.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_eUKnj9npdmCwz0F

If you have used BMJ Best Practice over the past year, it would be really useful if you could take a few moments to complete the survey.

If you haven’t used Best Practice for a while it is available at http://bestpractice.bmj.com/best-practice/welcome.html or click on the image below. You will need your NHS Athens username and password to sign in.

Problems with Proquest

NHS staff are currently unable to log in to Proquest.  This seems to be related to Proquest’s recent Athens upgrade. The problem has been logged but we currently do not know when it will be resolved.  We will update you when we have more details.  If you have any questions regarding accessing journals through Proquest please contact Karen John-Pierre, (kjohn@sgul.ac.uk) for help.

Are you Athens authenticated?

Are you Athens authenticated?   If not you may be missing out… Athens passwords unlock the door to a huge number of NHS electronic resources that can help you in your work, studies or research.  The National Library for Health  offers access to over 1000 e-journals, e-books and 7 key databases. In addition London Health Libraries and St. George’s Library have “topped up” the  national resources to bring you even more resources. To use them you’ll need an NHS Athens Password to login from any computer with an internet connection. (more…)
