Free prize draw – Complete the survey for a chance to win £50 Amazon Vouchers
Remote access to BMJ Best Practice will end on Monday 31st January 2011 when our trial period comes to an end. If you have been using Best Practice please fill in the evaluation survey to let us know what you think of the resource. All entrants will be entered into a prize draw for £50 Amazon vouchers. The survey will remain active until Friday 4th February.
If you haven’t yet used Best Practice why not try it now? BMJ describes the resource as giving “fast and easy access to reliable, up-to-date information for making diagnosis and treatment decisions at the point of care.” You will need your NHS Athens username and password to access Best Practice outside the Library. If you do not have an Athens account you can register for one here.
Please note that Best Practice will continue to be accessible by visiting the Library after this trial period.

Clinical Knowledge Summaries- new content
To the uninitiated CKS is a source of evidence-based information and practical ‘know how’ about the common conditions managed in primary care. It is aimed at healthcare professionals working in primary and first-contact care.
The CKS team have recently added 8 new topics including

– Diabetes type 1
– Diarrhoea – adults assessment
– Insulin therapy in type 1 diabetes
– Pancreatitis – acute
– Pancreatitis – chronic
– Pityriasis rosea

NHS Evidence Changing May 2011
In May NHS Evidence will be launching new search and find facilities.
Key highlights include:
- New clinician-driven clinical and medicines information topics providing enhanced access to relevant NICE guidance and pathways
- A redesigned specialist evidence service, replacing the current model of 30 specialist collections, will be integrated into the clinical topics.
